Five-Two Cowboy's Journal, 12 April 2016

Day after the first Fast Day. Stayed within my RDI but I need to use the benefits of my fast and change how much food I order when I eat out. Same burger I've literally eaten hundreds of times was too much. I powered through it and felt awful later. My stomach felt as if it shrank but I stuffed it full with a double cheeseburger. Think. First week lessons.

Seems like a good way to reset one's appetite. Doing the Alternate Day I noticed the same thing PLUS the feeling that I could forego some treat because if I didn't have it today, no big deal - I can have it in two days.

Exactly. We went out for a burger not because we were dying for a burger but because we could. Resetting my thinking. I easily could have had a dinner salad and been ok. Next time.

Yes, I'm thinking it will take the resistance and rebelliousness out of the equation. And probably other things I will discover as time goes on, like if nothing's forbidden then it is much easier to enjoy it in moderation.

I found the feeling of hunger quite fascinating. The more I thought about it the easier it was for the feeling to go away, managed to abstain until 7pm and then had my 600 cal allowance, tuna and mixed bean salad, lovely and very filling. I find it easier to eat my limit right at the end of the day as it keeps me alert during the day having an empty stomach (a few coffees only)
