How long have you been LC? It usually hits right at the beginning if you are going to get it

What is the low carb flu? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question. Is this a metaphor for something? Feel better soon!

It's an overall crappy feeling, a thing that may happen right before your body adapts to burning fat instead of sugar. It can happen right away or it may take longer depending on the body. I suppose it could be the regular flu....either way.....dying. I have been low carb for 4 weeks. No cheats.

I just wondered cuz I over indulged in sugar and that night/next day felt awful. Thought it was from the carbs. Turns out I caught something, just now feeling a little better. 4 weeks/no cheats doesn't sound like carb flu....Hope you feel better soon. It sucks not feeling good!!!

It took me a while to get to that stage but as soon as I felt it I drank a lot of broth (as you do) and took magnesium. It helped

What is “Low carb flu”? If you’ve ever dramatically reduced your carbohydrate intake, you might have felt it already: it’s that first few days of headaches, brain fog, crankiness, and constant, dragging exhaustion. At some point, you know the magic is going to happen and you’ll start feeling like a human being again, but the transition period is really rough. It feels like having the flu (hence the name), only you’re not sick; you’re just cutting carbs. Low-carb flu can include any of the following: You feel fuzzy and foggy, like your brain just isn’t working right. You might have a pounding or throbbing headache. You’re exhausted, cranky, and irritable for no reason. Going to the gym feels like an insurmountable challenge. If you do make it, your performance is completely down the drain. You’re ravenously hungry, tearing into everything in sight. You’re craving anything with carbs – bagels, pasta, pizza, sandwiches, mashed potatoes, candy…

Oliver, thanks for your reply, I wasn't thinking about the Westernization of Japan, but rather foods the Japanese feel are part of their typical diet... Stuff my mom, grandparents, aunts , cousins eat in Japan on a daily basis such as: Daikon radish, seaweed, kombu, mushrooms, natto or edamame, Wakame, fish both raw and cooked, shrimp, miso, steamed rice, Napa cabbage, spinach, udon noodles, soba noodles, ocha (tea), mochi, azuki... Foods like that, what do you think?

Smarty, I eat the edamame and like it, and I have seaweed too. Do you know anything about them?

OMG, I just ate the Seaweed, its kind of like tasty paper. Real interesting.

I posted "Oliver" to the wrong site! I wonder why it wasn't on BC's... (Very red cheeks!!!!!) Warren, seaweed nori is good right????

Edamame is really good for you, protein source, but I have to check out the carbs cause, you know... Ketosis! Nori is totally fine, almost zero calories if you eat Japanese nori. Korean nori has a little more calories because it's flavored intensely along with sesame oil (thus a bit greasy)... But.... Still so delicious!! By the way, last week in Alaska, some 1st grade girls got caught trying to poison one of their 6 year old classmates with the silica gel packet inside the nori... Of course the girl would not die, but how surprising.. Don't you think? I was surprised they tried to poison, but even more surprised that 6 year olds in Alaska take nori to school for lunch!! Healthy!!

It is maybe the strangest thing I have eaten. I am surprised how strong the taste is and they make it in paper like squares, right? It does taste good though. Only 30 calories, and they say it is nutritious.
