Oreo, my cat recently diagnosed with diabetes and pancreatitis. He spent a few worrisome days in the hospital and is now home with daily insulin.

I’m so sorry about your previous cat! What a cutie this one is though.

We're managing the shots fairly well, although he was deeply suspicious this morning. Tonight I try a new strategy -- food, pets, leave the room, come back and read a book, then pop him when he comes up for pets. This morning I distracted him with treats. Hard to outsmart the little booger, and I used to think it would be easy. 🤟🏾

The Kitty will get use to the shots, mine would tell me when it was time and sit very still while I gave the injection. So sad we lost him to the disease last year.

What a purrfectly handsome friend. My local computer guru had a big--as in the biggest domestic cat I've ever met, bigger than a Maine Coon--who also developed diabetes and was insulin dependent. That kitty actually had a form of acromegaly and that does often lead to giant cats. I could not believe his vet said, "He's just a big cat and now he's diabetic." Anyway when that boy purred it sounded like a muffled Mack truck.

We're about two weeks in on the shots. I'm trying different things, ordered some low carb dry food and wet food on the suggested list for diabetic cats. The vet didn't tell me this, but just reading online I've started feeding him wet food 1/2 hour before his shots. Then I go in and put down his dry food and add two treats plus one or two freeze dried chicken treats. While he's going after the treats, I pull up his scruff and give him his shot. Tonight he hardly noticed. We've got a routine going and I've ordered a blood tester. It's a journey. He's my little weirdo and I love him so much.

Yes we always feed the kitty when giving him his shots, good research on your part, it is a learning experience for you both. Best wishes on the treatment.
