Wow... I guess I must be really carb sensitive.

Last night was our end of the year meeting for our physician group and it was held at a local Crowne Plaza. I knew there was going to be a meal, but didn't know what kind of food would be served so I played it safe and didn't eat much leading up to it. In the morning, I blew a 79 on my Ketonix meter (which is considered high ketosis) so I felt good. At the gathering was a buffet. There was Caesar salad fixings, sliced meats and cheeses, roasted and pickled vegetables, roasted chicken, baked scrod, rice pilaf, sliced tomato with fresh mozzarella with balsamic glaze, broccolini, and all sorts of breads. On the dessert table were a variety of mini cannoli, tiramisu squares, coffee, sweetened flavoring additives like caramel, Irish cream, etc., and teas.

I got the salad minus the croutons, some prosciutto, a chicken wing, baked scrod (scraped off the breading on top), tomatoes with fresh mozzarella (scraped off the glaze), roasted red peppers, and broccolini. I only had water to drink with the meal, and after I had a cup of coffee with half and half.

I got home at 9 or so and logged in what I ate. I found that I was low on calories so I had some smoked almonds. I blew a 77 before I went to bed so I felt good.

When I woke up this morning, my acetone (what the Ketonix measures) was down to a 55! My weigh in is not until tomorrow AM, but I am getting nervous...

Any suggestions?

I know too little about ketosis or carb sensitivity to be of any practical help. But in general: you made the best food choices you could in a situation you couldn't control. Don't be too harsh with yourself: you'll get back to where you need to be. And even if you have a small set back in your weigh in tomorrow: there's no reason why it should be anything but a small blip in the grand scale of your journey. Keep at it!

It's always a guessing game eating out, as you don't really know what ingredients went into the food or how it was prepared. You made good choices, that's the best you can do. My suggestion would be to go light on carbs today to adjust, but don't stress about it. In the longer term view of things it's nothing to worry about.

Thank you both for the kind words of encouragement. You are right, I have to keep things in perspective.
