Day 1

I am here because today I am joining "my90DayWIN!" and this is one of the options given for nutrition plans! So here I am :D

I have been super fit and active in the past. In high school I was into yoga, cardio, weight training and I was vegetarian. I was 160 lbs. Long, lean and SOOO much energy!!!

The weight started to go up for me after high school. I gained 40 pounds in the years between 17 & 20. I was no longer active in yoga & weight training and was working 4 jobs, 2 of which included food service. Corndogs and deep fried cheese sticks are NOT health food!!! Not to mention cookies... sheesh!

Then, I got married and pregnant. The next round of weight gain was during and after my pregnancy 13/14 years ago... TWINS!!! I was 20... I gained 74 pounds during pregnancy and only lost 54 of them after my girls were born. That put me at 220 lbs.

Once they were old enough to eat the same things we were eating I gained more weight... I would eat my own food and then finish off what they had left on their plates because I didn't want to be wasteful, or so I told myself! I was 23 and I'd hit the 250 lb. mark... I got a membership at a local gym and got a personal trainer (one session) and even tried a yoga class, which kicked my butt! I didn't have a workout buddy and felt defeated and lost... I quit the gym. I thought that was the heaviest I could get. HA!

When I was about 25 I had some friends move in with us as they were needing a place and I had an extra room. The wife took over much of the cooking as the rest of us worked and she said it was her contribution. Every meal was heavy in meat, cheese and butter. She fried a lot and added fat where fat wasn't needed. And she insisted on having lots of sweets in the house. I tried to balance this out by making a salad to go with dinner each night... But my gesture wasn't enough. When I hit 274 lbs. I knew I had to do something. That was the weight I was at the end of my pregnancy! I talked to my then roommate. She and I started going to the women's only gym down the street. I lost 11 lbs but then started feeling really bad and having intense abdominal pain. I kept up at the gym until the night I ended up in the hospital... my gallbladder was not happy!

9 years ago I had my gallbladder removed and after that the weight just piled on. It's now easier for me to gain weight and harder to lose it! GAH!!! I hit 320lbs. within 3 months of having my gallbladder taken. Right at this time I also had some personal stuff happen which resulted in some pretty heavy duty depression.

Within a year of having my gallbladder removed I gained a total of 100 lbs. I went from 263 lbs. to 362 lbs. I had a hard time bending over to tie my shoes and got winded walking up the hill to go to the community pool.

Since then I have gotten motivated a few times and yoyo'd all over the place I have been down to 299lbs. and back up in the 360's... I get a walking/workout partner(s) and then they move away or schedules and life changes... I have done a juice/broth cleanse, tried Atkins, Biggest Loser books and DVD's, gone back and tried Susan Powter's "STOP THE INSANITY!!!"... All with results but I just don't stick with anything for more than a month or two. I have been pretty stable between 320lbs. & 330lbs. for about 6 months... Although I got down to 315lbs. when I went to Vegas at the end of May and am up to 327 now... but I want to see progress and not just maintain here.

Last November I joined SparkPeople and bought "The Spark". I actually really like it! It's all about setting goals and personal responsibility. The on-line community gives you a support network and I even met with a local woman for once a week walk. Although, she went on vacation and I haven't heard from her as to whether she is back yet or not!?!?

I get the impression that FatSecret is similar to SparkPeople in that you track your food and there are forums for support... I look forward to being a member here!
