Clean bill of health this morning. Feels good. OK, it's not like I was really doubting my health. The guys at work say I eat like a rabbit. Rabbits are my power animal after all so it's only fitting.

The doctor did suggest that since I've been depressed lately and don't want to commit to prescriptions that I start taking St. John's Wort. It's an option now that I'm not on hormones. So I ordered some off of amazon (checked out the maker's website first to make sure I wasn't getting junk). I was ordering stuff for my Comic-con costume and needed a little more to get free shipping. I figure I'll try it. The way things look right now I probably will be in this same situation for the next 6 months. That's a long time not to be happy. And honestly it's only gonna be worse when the weather gets cold again. So, preventative maintenance on that problem.

This morning I decided to play a bit of Wii Fit for the first time in a while. Apparently I hit my goal! Of course I couldn't tell you if that's just because I wasn't wearing pants or not. LOL. I never calculate my clothes into it when I weigh. Still was kind of fun because I never meet my goals on that thing. Then my batteries died in my wiimote. Haha. Game ended pretty quick.

girl, I know what you mean about getting sad in the winter. I hate tanning beds but I sometimes when I feel down I'll go just for a few minutes, I dont like the idea of tanning but it really helps with my moods. In the summer I just try to get as much natural light as possible. The only thing I like about having a little but of a tan is that i feel like i look slimmer.

Sophie (Ferl) always reccoments St. John's Wort, so it must do something lol. I have been off all my meds for almost a year, and winter is really the hardest time but I find Vit D boost my mood a bit, tanning beds help as they give you the Vit D through the UV. Keep us up dated on the St. John's Wort though, I would be interested in trying it if it works. Also Congrats on the clean bill of health!

I suppose you could take a vitamin d supplement but I think its something to do with the actual light because I take one and still find that being in the sun really helps.

Hm... I haven't really thought about vitamin D. Although, the doctor did ask today if I take a supplement. I try to be outside some, eat/drink lots of dairy, and my multi-vitamin has vitamin D so I don't worry too much about it. I think it's more the lack of being active in the winter that makes me sad not the lack of sun. But maybe since they do normally go hand in hand. I'll try the St. John's Wort and report back. Who knows right?

Nope its not the light, its actually the skin absorbs the Vit D faster than the body does the pills. I have been clinically depressed my whole life and have found alternate ways to deal with it. I was on anti-depressants but my Dr. did a trial thing with me on alternative ways to manage my depression and I feel better with out the synthetic junk in my body.

yea I stopped taking my meds about 2 years ago. I guess maybe I feel like its the light because usually in the summer it is warm which makes you feel good to be warm and I'm usually doing something active the gets my endorphins going.

Yeah, I've always been hesitant to start new meds. I've been trying to keep myself active because I know what a big role that plays in serotonin levels. When I'm doing cardio every day it definitely effects my mood.

I have noticed I am way more pleasant and upbeat on days I work out.
