Now I have two new grandchildren, I really want to get slimmer, stronger, and more in control of blood sugar.

With type II diabetes and the aches and pains I've developed lately, as well as breathlessness from excess belly fat, (really a squashed feeling when bending to tie a shoe) I have decided to test before and after every meal, and work toward a low fat, high fiber, low starch vegetable diet and to supplement with high protein yoghurt, soy milk, and maybe two small servings of fruit a day.

The nice thing about testing blood sugar is that it gives you a good idea of how your metabolism is dealing with food intake and the amount of exercise. Just a brisk round of shopping can lower blood sugar after a meal by 40 points, so it's important to keep an eye on all that. Like many fat girls I have had struggle with weight since puberty.

Accountability is my most powerful motivator: - blood sugar tests, weigh ins, and a record of waist size has motivated me in the past.
