Why yes, I dropped off the planet for a few days. 12 days on the road, no tracking, no weighing. Guess I'll see tomorrow if any damage was done. With the exception of one day, I stuck with plant based and didn't get excessive with eating. Had a couple of fabulous meals in DC -- ramen one night, and Ethiopian another. Didn't catch covid on the road, and I feel perfectly healthy, so hopefully I'm not bringing it home. Not a huge amount of exercise, but I did do a lot of walking in DC. Reasonably pleased with my food choices along the way. Happy Sunday to you all! 😁

Thanks annamommy and Morticia! NAVYWIFESKI -- I hope I've got this with the break in tracking! We'll see what the scale says in the morning. Right now I've got three hours to kill in the airport and I'm resisting the urge to buy a big bag of pretzel thins and eat them all 😉 Good thing I packed my own snacks!

You got this! Pretzel thins, they are thin so should be safe. 😂 I know your packed snacks will get you through. Maybe stay busy on your phone, drink water, mint in mouth.

NAVYWIFESKI -- I cannot be trusted with pretzels, thin or not 🤣 They're one food I have absolutely no self control with. Didn't get them. What saved me was I didn't want to drink any more fluids before a 2-hour van ride with no bathroom stops, and I would have wanted something to drink with them

Oh! That situation would have kept me on track too!:) lol

I used to travel constantly for a job (2-3 states/week!), and to get some exercise in, I would walk the airport hallways at a brisk pace until my gate was called. Never sat down, never ate airport food, and never ate airline snacks. Just drank water. And DC is my hometown! I moved to SoCal in my early 30's.

Wow, that was a lot of travel, JB! You'd definitely have to come up with some creative strategies spending that much time on the road, and it sounds like you did just that. This trip made me realize that you're really, really swimming against the tide if you're trying to eat a healthy plant based diet in this society. I did reasonably OK, but it feels really good to be home and get back to how I like to eat. I couldn't have pulled it off without making trips to grocery stores rather than just relying on restaurants.

@WWyo: Four years of travel was fun, but it definitely required effort to stay healthy. Not all hotels have gyms, so I would do calisthetics in my room. Clients would take me out and I'd order salads. I dined alone often, and upscale restaurants are always accommodating. Cheaper places - just have to order 2 side dishes instead of an entree. And yes, if the hotel has an in-room fridge, you hit the grocery store. Most breakfasts were continental, so bananas and bagels. I weighed 115-120 and was a size 2. It can be done. DC should have been easy as the population is so mixed. It will get easier with practice!
