It's VERY hard to be good....I am at the point of the month where I have more of an appetite than usual. It's disheartening to see how highly caloric and carb layden some foods are. :( On the upside though, it's good for me to make note and strive to adjust food choices and adapt better dietary habits:) I love the protein powder I got and enjoy the whole smoothie routine. It does well as a meal replacer. I did more on the eliptical today...46 minutes! Not all at once but that was prob. a bit much for me just yet. I am burning serious calories doing that but it doesn't show up on here...or at least I don't know how to yet! Weather is supposed to be decent the next few days so I'm hoping to get some bike riding in. I would LOVE to be able to swim but have no pool access...sniff sniff Okay, found out how to log exercise. I am on the machine for min. 20 min. per day, most days 30 min. today I wore myself out at 46:( Also, since I am doing much more I adjusted my RDI of cals. I'm up to 1900 now but am still going to try to stay around 1700 and just know in the back of my mind I've got 1900.

I would love to be able to do the elliptical more than 10 or 15 minutes at a time...you're doing great with your exercise and fighting temptation.

Agreed Dscmom, the elliptical and the arc trainer both wear me out quickly. Would love to be able to do that much, thinking about extra gym visits this winter for cardio. Simplee, orthopedic doc gave me an ultimatum about 2 years ago, lose 50#, I was 192, start walking and strength training or I'd be looking at a knee replacement in about 2 years. Last thing I wanted was knee surgery, had major leg surgery in 1986, that was enough!! Used a cane often, limped constantly, always in pain. Went back on Atkins, lost a bit, felt sick all the time. Took a serious look at how I like to cook and eat, did some research and came with a calorie controlled plan that fits me, that I can live with. Have tweaked it a bit as needed. Have lost 60 pounds, walk, try for strength exercise 3 times a week. Have not been consistent lately on the gym, life gets in the way sometimes. Now little pain, rarely take those pain meds, no knee surgery looming. Doc says maybe in 20-30 years if I keep at it. That's incentive. Also in reviewing my WOE plan lately I think part of my improvement is that it fits into an anti-inflammatory diet. My gp doc is thrilled and she works with on heart rate limits etc. As I am also asthmatic. My cane hangs unused (except when I sprained my ankle)in my bathroom as a daily reminder of what could be.
