Sweeet2th's Journal, 29 September 2014

I ran in an 8.2 mile race this weekend around a picturesque lake with the leaves starting to turn beautiful shades of red and orange and I really enjoyed it! I ran it in 1:19:13, a 9:40/mile pace, which isn't too shabby for someone who only started running seriously 6 weeks ago! I can run faster now than when I was 21 years old in the US Air Force! I definitely don't feel bad about turning 40 in 3 weeks, seeing as I can now do things I couldn't do when I was 21. It was such a fun event and it really helped boost my confidence for the half-marathon in 3 weeks.

I also watched the documentary "Super Juice Me" this weekend and I really recommend it for anyone struggling with a chronic illness, or has a loved one with a chronic illness, which is pretty much everyone these days.

I haven't written much here in the last few days, and I came back to a serious backlog of journal entries from all of my buddies. You people have been BUSY! Keep up the outstanding work! Make this week extraordinary!

Ciao for now!

You paint a beautiful scene to imagine. I'm in the same boat as you, I turn 40 tomorrow. I don't believe I fell like I'll be 40, I'm in good shape for my age.

Thanks, everyone! It feels really amazing to accomplish a goal like training to run a half-marathon! I may not be the fastest runner out there, but when I think back to how heavy, sick and disabled I was a year ago, I can't help but beam with pride at how far I've come!

Wow, I ran my race in that same time; unfortunately mine was a 10K. I'm sure you've heard that white men can't jump; well, fat men can't run, but I'm working on it. Good for you. You'll kick that half's butt!

wow!! Good run. Congratulations on your journey!!! I understand about the difference a year can make. I'm no longer living on daily pain meds. As a whole mere energy, little pain, occasional headache but not 2-3 or 4 a week. No knee replacement looming in the near future. Shouldn't run much due to old injuries leg/knee and ankles but doing lots of other things.
