I have not weighed in nor followed any kind of a diet for several months. I joined a gym yesterday and would like to lose 50 lbs by my 50th birthday on 11/21/11. That would be about 1.5 lbs per week, which should be fairly doable. My plan is to go to the gym at least 3 times a week. I am starting with 5 minutes on the eliptical, 2 sets of 8 reps on each of the machines and then 20 minutes on the exercise bike to end it off. Doing that routine I am at the gym for about 45 minutes to an hour. My plan is to increase my time on the eliptical by a couple of minutes per week until I am at 20 minutes and add reps, sets and weigh to the machines as I am able. My goal is to have an efficient work out without so much pain afterward that I do not want to do it again.
