My sister is in a rehab hospital yet again, maybe the 6th time in 2 years. But this one is absolutely amazing. I cannot speak more highly of their care. My sister is not known for her positive food choice so when she told me how wonderful the food was I had to do a heads up. I asked her to find out what the type of meals were that they were serving because they don’t have menus. Everyone seems to get the same basic meal, with some specific personalization based on patient needs.. she asked the doctor (great doctor) about the diet and was told that all patients were on a lower carbohydrate, lower sodium and healthier fats type of diet. She said that most people in rehab are older, obese with diabetes, high cholesterol, heart disease, etc. this rehab is affiliated with a huge west coast medical conglomerate called Kaiser Permanente.. Their entire system of patient care is focused on urging people to take responsibility for improving their health and they provide the resources and education for them to do that. Her meal have included small portion controlled servings of potatoes, whole grain rice, oatmeal, milk, no juices but fresh fruits and delicious vegetables that have not been boiled or microwaved to death. She says she doesn’t think any of the vegetables come out of a can,, everything is seemingly from frozen or fresh. I have to hand it to these people.

Encouraging. It is always amazing to me how many hospital cafeterias have horrible food choices. In care facilities choice is impossible, so very positive to see one taking care to care. Thank you for sharing this✨

Good news for your sister! Sounds like a holistic approach, and one that can help her on so many levels.

CrystalJo74. — it is a great holistic approach but sadly she will quickly revert to previous habits.

Kenna it is a seed. Somethings multiple seeds wakes up the brain. I know that happened to me. I always knew (mostly, still learning) what to do, but it took some seeding to move eating to a new level. We can hope for her.

I'm sorry your sister is back in rehab but it is good to hear that they take their dietary needs into account. Best of luck to your sister.💜🙏

She is 75 and this has been a lifelong issue and battle that has culminated in diabetes, heart disease, obesity, neurological problems and many ,many, many other medical problems including now a Covid long hauler. It is just she and I and she physically is so much bigger than I am and I am very allergic to her cat so can’t spend more than a few minutes in her apartment. So we are at a point where her philosophy of “you do you and I'll do me” no longer works for her and she has painted herself into a wall with no way out
