deelbee's Journal, 22 August 2021

This afternoon I batch-cooked 3 cups of dry Lundberg Wild Rice blend. It made 16 - 105g (or 1/2 cup cooked) servings. I used a hamburger patty-maker to make the freezer servings. I had to use a spray of Pam to allow them to pop out. I put in fridge-freezer for fast-freeze. Then when frozen, I popped them into large freezer bags for deep freeze. This makes it quick to have a speedy serving of healthy wild & brown rice as a side-dish. And it stops me from pigging out on too much rice in one meal.

😊Happy this time-saver may be useful to you folks as well. I do this for steel cut oat porridge, Red River Cereal porridge too. Just a note, on the Lundberg rice they say 3 cups dry would make 12 servings, ~140g at 160 calories per serving. I reduced my serving size to 105g at 120 calories each, which is why I got 16 servings instead of 12. I figure, serving sizes on foods are for maintenance of weight, not for loosing weight. And my pet peeve is: why do they just state the serving size for 1/4 cup(45g) 'dry uncooked' only. They should also say the volume and weight of 1 serving 'cooked' as well on the nutrition label.
