I posted a new group challenging people to try new things. My problem in the past with changing my eating habits was that everything I was familiar with was bad and I was apprehensive (without being conscious of it) to try new things. Worried about taste, price, if I would be able to cook it right or whatever. The lack of variety caused me to get bored, and I would always end up going back to my old eating habits. This time I realize that I need to keep myself from getting bored by trying new things.
I have never had a brussel sprout because my mother didn't like them, therfore didn't buy them or cook them. Plus watching tv as a child and seeing other kids my age dreading brussel sprouts put it in my mind that they were gross. I am gonna try brussel sprouts, rutabaga, parsnips, turnips, radishes, leeks, and an other strange looking (it's always strange when it's different. thats how sel-centered we all are) vegatable I see. An I will tell you what I did with it and how I felt about it.
My life is surrounded bu the familiar. Which is good in a way, but sometimes it can cause stagnation. I have never intentionally left my comfort zone in order to improve my life. Even a bad situation that was comfortable and familiar was better than something better that would have caused discomfort to achieve. I'll be 30 in May...I can't keep living like that. It really is psychologica;, we don't even think about how a deep seeded problem (my being nervous about change) can effect our lifestyle.
So join my group! Another persons anicdote about their journey via small changes will soooo motivate me, and probably others.

I had never tried brussell sprouts either. 2 weeks ago I bought the green giant steamable ones and they were pretty good. Next time I am going to get some fresh ones and use the ziploc zip n steam bags and some seasonings.
