Something differrent today then pemican. salmon, alfalfa sprouts, pickled egg, 10 olives, and ground flax served cold. left over grilled zuchini & eggplant served hot with parmesan cheese. Im stuffed!

If I may ask … Do you make your own pemmican? What do you put in it? We learned a little about it in grade school about a century ago (!) but I have never seen or eaten it.

I do. This is my first batch I made ever trying new things. Its basically diy jerky, you want the meat to shatter but not break & a little bendy. I did add a bit of salt. Then blend jeky a bit till shredded not a powder, then mix in a bowl with fat (I used butter for flavor, but tallow is traditional.) Use fat till it clumps or balls up when you roll and it holds shape. Then I added ground walnut & put maca root in it. (You can use anything really)(Basically I tried this just as a better way to use maca as it tastes awful.) After making pemican tho and seeing how easy jerky was to make, I am hooked on making jerky now. One small ball of pemican is breakfast and loaded with energy, the kind I made needs to be kept in the fridge due to butter, otherwise it supposedly can last really long time if you use tallow.

Im making jerky in the next few days I will post pics and a how I make it if you like. i have almost 2 weeks of pemican left so when I make more I will post how I did that. there is a ton of youtube videos etc on it. But diy beef jerky is better then anything Ive got at a store before. totally hooked now.

I'm being educated. I just googled Pemmican. Interesting. Oh and the food looks delicious
