I tweaked my diet. I was on Atkins and felt horrible. I am now trying to do my own thing, something that works with my body and my system. I'm still learning, but I have lost weight even with the extra carbs. YAY - Now I just have to figure out how to up my calories, it seems to be harder than one might think. Ughhhhhhhhhhhhhh **Happy Sunday everybody**

Everyone is different. What may work for one person may not work for another. It's great you can have the extra carbs, I wish I could. Once I start eating sugary or floury foods it turns into really bad cravings until I'm gaining. Good luck figuring out the calories!

Extra carbs doesn't always mean sugar and white flour treats. Often it means more veggies, legumes, and whole grains.

Wholefoodnut is right, I get extra carbs from yogurt or nuts and I'm losing fast, and feel great. If you eat many of those Atkins meals, they are processed foods, just like any other food you don't cook fresh yourself. And their snacks have sugar alcohols that substitute the real sugars and can cause stomach discomfort. I know, I tried the Atkins way myself and decided I needed to do what was right for MY body. I can't eat 6 times a day like is recommended, I'll eat when I'm hungry thanks. Eating that many times a day was causing me to gain weight, even though it was good food. So do what's right for you, KimReed, and I'm sure you'll be thrilled with the results ;)

That is exactly what happened. My stomach was a mess on Atkins. The extra carbs are coming from fruits and vegetables (I like to call them healthy carbs). I still watch them, but it is much more pleasant to feel better. YAY - Thank you all for your kind words. I am happy to have your support. **Learning as I go** :O)

Congrats. I've never tried Atkins; but to tell the truth, I've never been a big one using diets anyway. I figured the best thing for me was to learn as much as possible and then make plans around that. Besides I learned that not having carbohydrates can be as dangerous as having too much. It always comes back to the same thing balance and moderation. ;)

Sorry I should have said fruits and veggies, I lump them together in my mind since many things like tomatoes are really a fruit.

I also changed off the Atkins..doing my own thing. I am vegetarian so my weigh loss plan is based on lots of vegies, eggs in the morning and that's about it to get my body in the weight weight loss mode. As it moves along I will add back in healthy carbs as fruit. I do eat nuts. Love peanut butter. Not having anything made with flour or sugar is what helps me drop the weight.

I can't do Atkins either, it makes me feel awful. My body does not like that much animal fat and eating higher fat. It likes plant based foods with some meat tossed in here and there. Corner store had center cut lean pork chops for $1.99 yesterday, haven't had one in a long time. Will finish the other 2 as I don't want to freeze them, just wouldn't be as good.
