I have not lost as much weight as I had hoped or expected to on my first week or so on induction. I measured, and I've gone down an inch to an inch and a half in my waist, hips, thigh, calf.. so that's good. But still. Pretty bummed about that.

Even more bummed, because I've definitely had a problem with sugar alcohols. I got a bunch of atkins advantage bars and ate them all in one day. I got fiber gummies, and ate 5 servings in one day. And what's worse it gives me awful gas. So now I just feel smelly and weak-willed! Sigh.

I'm not saying I want to give up... but I am saying I feel a little crushed and emotional about it all.

oh, sweets - don't be down.... pull yourself up and rise above. be careful and in control of what you put in your mouth. that's the one thing in life you can control :) and don't buy the atkins bars & gummies if you can't eat them as they are meant to be eaten - it's too much of a temptation. don't give up (except for the gas-inducing gummies!) and move on - you CAN do it!

Oh...I remember my early days on Atkins. Years ago I bought all the sugar free candies and I thought...this diet is great! I gobbled those things up!!! Afterward, I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me...I over-indulged...BIG TIME!!! Then, I learned about Maltitol and all those other sugar alcohols. Now I try to steer clear of that stuff! Or at least limit my intake of it. Don't feel weak-willed...most Atkineers learn the hard way. You'll be OK, just keep going!

hey maggie dont be discouraged i know you can do it...just say to yourself ill eat half the bar and ill eat the other half in a half hour if im still hungry...that really helps me...im trying to figure out when im full..i have overindulged for so many years that now i need to figure out how to say enough is enough im Full...lol...just be patient we are all still lerning the tricks of atkins...keep up the good work and good job loosing those inches...

Thanks, ladies! I just gotta keep plugging I guess, and quit buying sugar free crap... it just messes me up.

Hi Maggie, I use to buy all the sugar free/low calorie stuff too, and thought I was doing so good, when actually I was not. I just was not losing any weight and couldn't figure it out. Then my husband told me that he had heard or read that those types of products can sometimes worsen weight loss or make it hard to lose weight. So I did some reading and researching on my own, and there was a lot of info out there on that topic. So I quit buying it, except for of course things like splenda, and sugar free syrup. Eventually, I started losing the lbs. So don't give up, you can do this, be strong and believe in yourself.
