Bought a new scale yesterday - we didn't have one and the scale at the gym isn't consistent at all - varies over 5lbs (up to 7lbs) on back to back weigh-ins. I'll weigh myself Monday morning before the gym and this will be my new starting point. Too bad I don't know what my actual starting point is, somewhere between 215 and 220, but, I will at least from here on have a good reference point.
For anyone interested, after doing a bit of research on the internet and cross referencing what was available at the various discount department stores I bought a Weight Watchers scale from Walmart. It's the Glass Body Analysis Scale, Model WW67WC. I tested it before I bought it by grabbing some weights from the sporting goods department at the store, 5 and 10 lb dumbells and then in various combinations got off and on the scale. The variation never seemed to be more than .5 lb and actually, I think, consistently less. It wasn't cheap here in Canada, $49, but, it looks nice and if it can be consistent and accurate then I think it will be worth it. Besides, it's indicating that I'm down to 210!! We'll see Monday morning at my first official weigh-in!!
