Sounds like you are getting a workout just removing snow all winter! So how much do you have piled up from all the storms? Our neigbor had the infamous ice dam on his house... leaking inside in his bedroom. Congrats on the continued weight loss. Losing in winter, although doable... is harder than spring-summer IMHO!

Tell me about it. I feel terrible for your neighbor. I just had my roof replaced. I'm glad I didn't hold off any longer. My wife is out of town and she was surprised how long it took me this morning, until I explained to her that I can't get the snow over the banks due to hight. It looked like my drive way was a fiord and I had to knock down the overhang. All told, I'd say they are about 3 1/2 - 4 feet high and that includes prior melting.

Thank you for the congrats. I was the idiot that started the weekend after Thanksgiving. Getting through Christmas/New Years was the hardest, but in hindsight maybe it was a smart move. If one can stay on target at that time of year, they can do it at any time during the year...

We had 14 inches down here on Long Island as well. Both of you guys have inspired me today. Matt was in the same position that I and CMR are in and while I don't ever think I could get down to 180 lbs, it's nice to know that someone did do it (Matt). The government standards (BMI) seem a little crazy to me but as I said on my profile, being obese is a very ugly description. I don't consider myself obese but that's what the government identifies us as. So my goal is to get under a 30 BMI (227 lbs) by July 4th and maintain a healthy lifestyle, always keeping my calorie intake under 2,000 calories a day no matter what the situation. So far, except for a few Sundays at the bar watching the NFL playoffs, I've been good. Good luck to you CMR and congrats Matt on a job well done.

@Paesano-It’s unbelievable, isn’t it (Both the snow and BMI Calculators). I put my height and weight into a crude internet BMI calculator the other day, which of course said I was obese. Here’s the rub: “Normal Weight” for my size is 167 lbs.!!! Really?? Would you like to know when I was last 167 pounds? Just before fall two-a-days…my freshman year…OF HIGH SCHOOL!!! Truth be told, I would like to see a "1" as the left most digit on the scale, and I'll decide what to do from there.

@Paesano-Thank you very much for considering me an inspiration. That’s a new one on me. I looked in the mirror this morning and saw how big I still am that I can’t even fathom myself 35 pounds ago. Also, don’t worry about the Sunday watching the NFL. Have you looked at any one of the Saturdays in my food diary? If I can come back from that on a weekly basis, you can bury a few Sundays.

@ Paesano and CMR - Regarding your goal weights. The BMI is not perfect and does not account for frame size. Initially my goal was just to be 200, but I didn't like myself there... so kept going... pushing back the goal posts 5 lbs at a time. What I am trying to say is that you won't know if you are happy at your goal weight until you get there. Then you have to do a re-eval to see if your "good" or want to go further. Initially I lost 10 lbs per month... at the end... I was lucky to lose just 4-5 lbs per month. It takes longer near the end!

CMR-I heard on the news tonight we have had 70" so far this winter and 50" of those have been in January. Normal is 40" for entire winter and just think we have about 8 more potential snow producing weeks left to go.....crap! and what's this, you can see pavement? I wish and you are right, no where else to put the damn stuff! more tomorrow and maybe saturday....happy day buddy! Glad you had a good workout in this am

I can't believe how much snow you're getting! Good job on getting your workout done this morning. If it was me, I'd hibernate under the covers for as long as possible in that weather d/t lack of motivation. You are a pretty determined person to get through the holidays while monitoring everything.

While shoveling is good exercise I'm looking forward to getting back to the gym on Saturday and Sunday. On Wednesday the roads by me were pretty much impassible and yesterday I was wiped out after digging out my driveway. I'd try to go today but I think I'll leave the workouts for the weekend because that's when I seem to slip up on the diet. Sitting around with the kids at the house is a recipe for disaster because they seem to eat little meals all day and I end up joining them for little snacks. If I burn an additional 1,000 calories on Sat and Sun it will help me.
