Andrea S's Journal, 11 January 2011

This totally sucks. I modify my eating so I eat better and less calories and I am exercising more than I was and I still do not lose even an ounce. So discouraging that I just want to quit and go hide in a dark room where no one can see me. At least I have a supportive boyfriend that loves me for who I am....not what I weigh.

Andrea. don't quit - try modifying your diet! Have you gone to a dr to see what it is you may need to be focusing on? Janelle

have you measured yourself? Do you clothes feel more loose? how many weeks have you been doing this? Are you tracking your food intake? Do you get enough liquids to flush out sodium? Are you eating enough lean protein, dairy, fruits and veggies? Are you eating too many processed foods (too much sodium)? Sometimes when we exercise a lot, we see fat loss before the scale moves. I had a friend go down 4 sizes without seeing a loss on the scale for months. It takes a lot of time and hard work to lose weight. You don't have a lot to lose, so it may take some time. If you have just added in more exercise, your muscles may also have muscle edema (retain water to help the muscles heal and it can show on the scale as a gain or no loss). The people who make it to goal, are those who don't let anything deter them. Keep changing things up and eating healthy. It will happen.

Thank you guys for the pep talk. I did just recently go to the Dr and got a full blood work-up. The only thing that was "off" was my cholesterol. It was a little high. Which made me more determined to eat better. I have changed my diet and I am eating more veggies (yuk), leaner meats, less dairy and less sweets. (my downfall) I am also drinking a ton more water. Seems that since I had my hyterectomy in 2001 I have gradually gained weight. When I had my surgery I was 117 and now I am 150. UGH. Not sure what else I can do except kick up my exercising more.
