Another beach day— completely different. Gray and cloudy, and breezy but still about 70 degrees. Great walking weather. I went prepared to harvest prickly pears from cactus if I were to find some along our way— lucked out big time so will make jam tomorrow. Also walked by a house where the son of the owner was actually digging dandelions out of his parents yard. I asked if he was going to eat them or toss them out. He looked bewildered. I told him they were edible and delicious so we sat a while and I told him how to prepare them. He kept half the stash and I took the other half. Fresh dandelion greens with pancetta on the menu for tomorrow. A fun day and we met some nice, really interesting people. We took our camp chairs and finally sat on the cliff above the ocean and chit chatted for an hour. Physical distancing, not social distancing is important for our mental health, and it can be done safely in an outdoor setting. Isolation is not healthy. I know that those of you who live where the weather is not conducive to this type of activity that it must be really hard. This will not be over for a very long time. WHAT KINDS OF THINGS ARE YOU COLD WEATHER PEOPLE DOING TO MAINTAIN YOUR SOCIAL COMTACTS?
