The Love of Fit's Journal, 13 January 2014

If nothing else, this Journal is for myself. Tonight I weigh 136 lbs and I'm easily made upset by the way I look. I know I can do better than what I've allowed myself to do, but something stops me. Tonight I binged on crackers, cereal, peanut butter, popcorn, and granola bars. I've kept a 'healthier' house, which leads to more eating to try to get rid of the cravings. I don't know how to stop. I can think to myself how unhappy I'll be when I eat as much as I do but I've consistently had over 2,000 calories a day, with 700 of them being consumed from 7-11pm.
Just one step at a time. But I need something to help motivate me into changing. I need help with late night eating. I work out twice a day, but abs are made in the kitchen. I can't have empty cupboards but something needs to change.

Someone help me beat myself.

It sounds to me that you might have an unhealthy psychological relationship with food. If you find yourself constantly binge eating like this, you may want to consider speaking with a counselor about the possibility of having BED (Binge Eating Disorder), or researching the disorder online if that's uncomfortable or not a possibility at this time. Doing so could help you understand your psychological barriers associated with food and, eventually, conquer them! Also consider speaking with a nutritionist; their comprehensive knowledge of the relationship between calories and nutrients could really help you find eating plans that help you feel more satisfied, therefore be less likely to experience the need for binge eating. Hope this helps! Good luck.

I understand.....and I can relate. I too just had a binge. Chocolate. Too many calories. I too seem to know not how to stop once I start, until I start to feel sick. I too keep a healthy house. These chocolate chips were left over from the holidays. When I am alone is when these binges come about, not everytime. We have to attempt to conquer this one meal one day at a time. I feel in life we have issues and baggage. Sometimes they come to the surface. Sometime....for some people it comes out in our relationship with food. All the more reason to take it one day at a time. Good luck to you....

it sounds like maybe you allow yourself to get hungry. If you split up your calories throughout the day, you will feel less of an urge to binge. Also, stay occupied! People may mindlessly snack when they are bored. And another thing, if you are not getting enough sleep, you will be more hungry. People who are sleep deprived have stronger cravings to munch. And one more thing, drink lots of water. Sometimes you may feel hungry when you are actually thirsty. Hope this helps.

i mindlessly snack when bored. Try distracting yourself with a project that requires both hands (sewing usually works or crafts) that is, if you eat out of boredom.

Thanks for the support everyone! It's currently 8:40 and I haven't had anything since dinner. It's simply because I can look back and see how many people support me and hold me accountable. Thank you!

Try to substitute a big glass of water whenever you go to the cupboard for something to eat. It will make you feel full at least temporarily and perhaps until the craving passes. Good luck. Evenings are hard!

I bought a soda stream and drink a lot of carbonated water (with a little lemon) after dinner as my snack.
