SORE!! OMG, my bum and thighs are on fire lol. Squats with the kettle bell... holy ouch. Gotta work more consistently on the derrière. Every time I'm doing leg, thigh, or bum workouts I keep repeating to myself "short shorts, short shorts, short shorts"... guess what I want to be able to wear next summer lol.

Heading to the gym alone today, my buddy is studying for her finals. She's a deal older than me but working on a degree in accounting. I wouldn't mind going back to school myself but I don't want the debt, besides, ain't nobody got time for dat! A couple early dismissals today will make my post workout pick-up-the-kids hustle even more chaotic than usual. Say a prayer for me lol.

It's snowing!!! Hooray!!! Makes me feel jolly, so I did a little Christmas shopping this morning. I say a little because I only had like forty bucks lol. Put a innotab 3 on layaway for my son, he wants an Ipad (lmao) but he's four so he doesn't know what the hell he is talking about. He will be soooo excited! Of course I have to pick up the layaway Friday, so it might seem silly to add to it, but that's just how I roll.

I have to work on my food plan now, as I am short on time. Shower, lunch, gym, pick up kids, work, shower, bed, repeat. That shopping stole my 'free' time. Hope everyone is having a great Wednesday :-)

Okay... got my kettle bell and haven't used it yet. Kind of iffy about it. No particular reason. I got a book on 50+ and kettle bell and they suggest that us older folks to do warmup exercises such as walking for 15-20 to literally warm up the body then do some exercises without the bell to see if we can do it at all and without pain. After cookies today, I think I'll do a walk on the TM then try the exercises. They seem harmless enough... for someone your age.

You're already in better shape than the majority of the 50+ population. Perhaps whoever wrote that book had my mother in mind lol. I don't think you have a single thing to worry about, CR. Start with some of the simpler moves, build your confidence and go from there. A simple kettle bell swing will really get the blood pumping and builds core and back strength. I don't do anything that I'm uncomfortable with, and with squats I go at my own pace, because of my knees. Its completely customizable. Excited for you to give it a try, please let me know what you think and if you have any questions! Mike, I'm always reminded of the Listerine commercial "the burn means it's working"!

CR: Yeah, the author may have been overly alarming in warning about "pain". You'll have fun with it, just like anything else, you just have to start slow and do the moves that you like. Trust me, it adds an interesting element to your fitness regimen. No exercise should cause pain (unless of course, you're into that sort of thing............) :)

Did it. Quite a few of them, but have to question my posture. I have to go to you tube and make sure I'm doing them properly. Did them without the kettle bell then with it. Not as easy as I thought. They also recommended stretches after exercising to "facilitate flexibility and reduce injury". Like doing something new and different. Tomorrow might be a different story. But until then, teaching this brain a few new tricks.

Glad you got that short shorts thing going. I am 50 and still love them.... Need to do like you though and start the workout so my thighs will love them too :) Classic - I think all the over 50 books assume we are all over the hill as well as over 50. Since they focus on us, they need to be safe for legal reasons and not stress out old bodies too much. probably written by a 20 something who assumes we are all almost dead LOL

I have to agree with you. Of course the people demonstrating the exercises are fit, or most of them are. One fellow had a bit of a belly and I thought that was cool. But because of issues with my back and knee, I will take it slow. Just needing to change up my routine. BORING. And like the idea of working various body parts at the same time is nice. Short and sweet.

I saw an infomercial on a 25 min workout. It was interesting.... I might have 25 mins :)
