I'm a little discouraged (okay, I'm a lot discouraged!).

I have been keeping track of what I eat each day for the past few weeks, not making any adjustments for "popper diet" or anything like that. I just wanted to get a feel for what my typical day is like.

According to this program, I eat fewer calories than I expend on a daily basis. Again, that's without "trying"

So why is it I'm gaining weight? Why can't I be skinny again, like I was a year or so ago?

Bah...

How much weight are you gaining? How long has it been? Small weight gains over a short period should not be given a lot of weight, no pun intended. That being said, the calories out and calories in is not an exact science. You might THINK you are expending a certain amount, but maybe you aren't. You might think you are eating a certain amount of calories but maybe you aren't. If you are in a deficit, you will lose. Maybe slower than others, maybe quicker at times. But I promise you this, sticking with it will work. Quitting will NEVER work. No one has ever decided, screw it I am done with this, and lost weight, for any significant time.

The only way to truly know how many calories your body is expending is by wearing a heart rate monitor or one of those "body buggs." Anything else is just a guideline to help you. Are you tracking all your food honestly? Bites, licks and tastes add up and can keep you from losing. Are you drinking water? Water flushes out sodium and keeps things moving. Are you getting enough lean protein, lean dairy, fruits and veggies? Sometimes it's about WHAT you are eating and not only HOW MUCH. Are you eating too many processed foods? They contain tons of sodium. Are you being active? Exercise burns calories, helps you lose fat, firm you up and keep your heart healthy? There could be a whole bunch of reasons you are not losing. Hormones, stress, sickness, too much sodium, too many carbs, etc. can all effect the scale. Are you eating the right amount of calories to help you lose? You may need to play around with your daily caloric intake till you find what works for you. Weight loss isn't an exact science and things can effect the scale. Make sure you are doing all the things you need to be doing to lose weight. I was talking to a girl at the last WW meeting who was having similar problems. She tightened up her tracking and diet. Made sure she was drinking water and being active. She focused on the healthy whole foods and her losses kicked in. You can do this! Keep trying different things till you find what will work for you.
