Yay! After recording- as best as I could- the foods I ate yesterday, it turned out to be not as bad as I thought it would have been. I still exceeded my budget. I counted 2 hours of standing and 1 hour of housework as exercise for yesterday. So overall I allegedly burned more than I ate. (I started cooking around 3p and finished around 7:30p, so I was on my feet for a lot of the afternoon.) I seriously need to reduce the time it takes me to make meals. This is ridiculous. Things would have taken so much less time if I had had the black eyed peas soaking and cooking at the same time. Since both kinds of beans take 2 hours to prepare start to finish, if I had started them both at the same time, I would have saved an hour. I didn't have the prep instructions ready when I should have, so I got distracted and didn't start the kidney beans until the black eyed peas were done soaking. *sigh* I realize that I lost another half hour for not paying attention to the roasting instructions for garlic. So instead of doing it the right way- one hour at 450F, I did an hour at 350F, wondered why it was taking so much longer than usual and the garlic looked different before realizing that the oven wasn't hot enough. My guess was right at least that 30 minutes at the right temp would finish the garlic. So I need to be more attentive to what I'm doing so that I don't keep wasting so much time.

I am very happy though seeing as how well the turkey "chili" recipe came out. (My family says it's not really chili, it's more like stew. I don't know the difference per se, I was just using the name the recipe had.) I think that has got to be one of the best leftover turkey remixes I've had yet! :-D
