Hermiones Mom's Journal, 17 November 2010

It's a struggle this week. I tried eating some beef, which I virtually never do -- lean skirt steak -- because sometimes when I find that if nothing really satisfies me, and I eat some beef, I seem to do better. I'm trying to eat a lot of really high protein stuff like egg white omelettes. But I think there's no help for it but to have a splurge meal like chile rellenos or something like that that's gooey and full of fat. Usually when I do that, it gets me back on track for another month or so. We'll see.

Maybe you have a Vitamin B deficiency, which apparently is contained in large amounts in beef. I am vegetarian, and my doc said, I should eat some beef, after a blood check and I had Vitamin B deficiency. (I didn't, but took some supplement instead.) I was easily annoyed before and always felt drained, but after taking the supplement, it stopped. It could also be another deficiency. I think one of the concepts of the low-GI-diet is to learn to listen to your bodies needs, rather than your emotional needs. So if it wants beef, and you feel satisfied after you ate some, there is nothing wrong with that.
