(singing in my best R. Kelly voice, "I believe I can RUN"...
Heck, I actually RAN today!!!!
All this time I've been struggling to go beyond my 1.5 mins run intervals on the treadmill, and then my genius friend tells me to try a flat incline, and voila! I could actually run 21 mins solid, non stop at 4.5 mph--so it's more of a jog than a run really, but we won't play semantics :) I didn't even get that tired, and I could have pushed myself more to go up to 30 mins, but at some point my brain started to give me messages to stop out of sheer habit. Oh well, tomorrow i'll challenge me further! While in the throes of it, I didn't feel tired nor sweated, but as soon as I slowed down, I was sweating quite a bit--is that weird? Or does that mean the intensity is still quite low? Other than that, did the rest of 9 mins at 3.8 mph, rounding off to 30 mins on treadmill, burning 253 k. Another 20 mins on elliptical, burnign another 250 k. And then 3 sets each of bicep curls and lateral raises. I did these at 12-15 pds. I've been challenged to up the weights to 20 pds by my INSANE friend who actually lifts 50 pds like it's a cotton sack, and wants me to push the envelope just a tad more..like um...just 5 pds more!! We'll see...
Other than that, since the workout was so late, I ended up having a very light dinner afterwards. And have started a strict carbs count as of today. A pretty good day,I'd say,as indicated below..doncha think??
Meals and points: Brunch: scrambled eggs, frozen veggies, and meatless crumbles with jack cheese (2 carbs, 5 pts) Yogurt (18 carbs--but not counting these, 2 pts) snacks: 2 laughing cow cheeses (2 pts, 2 carbs) coffee with soy milk (0.5 pt, 1 carb) Dinner: veggie patty (2 pts, 6 carbs) Total: (sans yogurt)= 11 carbs, 9.5 pts)
I had an epiphany today! Since I feel so energized at 1.15 am, post-intense-workout (2-3 large ones of coffee notwithstanding), and since yesterday was so light in exercise and yet so tiring, my conclusion, ergo, is, that the harder you workout the more energy you have--immediately!!! In other words, if you want to feel LESS tired, do MORE exercise!! Common sense, no? Well, then, why is it so rare????!!
