Sandy701's Journal, 27 October 2010

A bit of summer has come back so I'm back to sweltering when I walk. The last couple days have been almost as uncomfortable as late summer with temps in the 80's and the dewpoint in the low to mid-70's. At least there's been a steady breeze. Walked 3.1 miles both yesterday and today; dogs could only go part way, due to my concerns for them in the heat.

I haven't been able to shake my tiredness. I even upped my calories a bit for a few days, and while it did make me feel a bit better at the time, it didn't last. I also haven't been sleeping well and when I get up, I still feel tired, but not sleepy, if that makes any sense. This almost feels like the early month or so of Atkins. I think I need to review the basics - like water consumption - and see if adding broth will help. That seems to do the trick when I've felt like this before, I've just forgotten to drink some.

Hope everyone makes it thru Hump Day!

Lot of interesting discussions on the forums and in journals these past few days; people coming and going and a few still MIA.

Have you had your potassium checked for your tiredness? That is why I was so tired. My potassium was low. Enjoy your day.:)

No, haven't had it checked, but I take potassiunm supplements in the amount of 393 mg per day; most of that amount in the AM with other vitamins and supplements and 99 mg at night with the rest of the vitamins. "Ages" ago, the Drs. Eades of the Protein Power program, another low carb WOE, listed various vitamin and mineral amounts to look for in a multi-vitamin to take while on low-carb and their target was 400 mg/day for potassium. These days, they're selling their own brand of vitamins on their website and I know a lot of the ingredients don't match up with their recommendations published in their book. So I'm not really sure what a "good" amount of potassium would be.
