Do you take any supplements? I used to have the same problem after I exercised then I added potassium to my vitamins. (Otherwise you can add bananas to your diet, both work well to alleviate muscle cramps)

Calcium!! If I am low on calcium, I get horrible leg cramps!! Be sure to have low fat yogurt, cheese, cottage cheese or milk to get it in. :) My leg cramps would wake the dead... oh my! I'd rock back and forth in bed from laying to sitting, violently, because it hurt so badly. =S

Personally I get toe cramps - all 10 toes go off in different directions - this is from a lack of calcium. I found this out while I was teaching a class on anatomy and physiology. It is very important to make sure you get enough! Hope your legs feel better - there is not much worse than cramps!

I need to begin taking some supplements. They are painful!!! I wake up in the middle of the night yelling and trying to walk it out but they refuse to go away. Then the next day, I'm limping because I am so sore. I wanted to go for a walk today but my calf muscles ache so darn bad.

Oh yeah, I didn't mean to say that potassium isn't important, too! Need to get that as well as the calcium...

I agree with the vitamin suggestion. Get a multivitamin for now. If it is potassium, try avocados instead of bananas. Half an avocado as much potassium as a banana with a lot less carbs. :) Also winter squash (yellow and orange varieties) have a lot. Good luck!

Hi Reina, you can look up your BMI at this link (you have to put it back together as links do not work in this area): http://www .halls .md/body-mass-index/av.htm

There are other, better sites for BMI online, just enter BMI calculator or the like. Thank you for your comments.

My legs started cramping when I was low on my potassium. When I used to be an athlete, we would eat a banana after a run or cycling event to prevent cramping. I would think a good supplement would do the trick if you aren't taking one already. Also look for the great foods like sararay mentioned. Lots of healthy food sources for potassium. Hope it helps!

Your coat sounds really nice! Keep hanging in there and you'll be fitting into it in no time! I love going to NYC! It's a great place! :)

I used to get cramps too... but it was when I overworked my legs. I wished there was just a "supplement" for leg cramps, LOL.
