This site is really helping me, just seeing those numbers makes me aware. I also can see how much healthier I eat at home. Although I'm surprised how little protein I'm eating. Need to change that, but how to do it cheaply? But really...who goes out and orders salad and steamed vegetables? For how rare I go out, I really want to enjoy it. Maybe that is the only time I will allow myself to be "bad".

You're doing great, Kat. I have a hard time with getting enough protein, too. But you learn to work it out. I agree with doing it "cheaply". I hate how expensive fruits and vegetables are. But I get them because they really help. And are good for me. I only go out to eat 3-4 times a month and occasionally will let myself get something not so healthy. I have to watch sodium. And I allow one day a week (usually my weigh in day) to eat a little extra. Just a little...I don't go overboard. We have to be good to ourselves. Keep going. You'll be to your goal in no time! :)

I actually like salad when I go out. But there are ways of eating out that you can still enjoy yourself. Starting off with the side salad (with dressing on the side is a good idea). It fills you up, so you don't overeat. If you really want something, order it, but ask for a box and put half away. Most meals are enough for two people. Splitting an entree is also an option. Some people can eat out once and get right back on plan, while it can derail others. You can also look up nutritional values for many food before you go out. Applebees has some great dishes 500 calories and under.

I actually did do that at Red Lobster last week! I ate my salad, and couldn't eat all my chicken, so I brought it home for my 16 year old daughter...she loves my leftovers. Big problem, I splurged on a pina colada...Red Lobster is the only place that makes them right! But I looked at my diet for a week, and that was really the old day I didn't watch so well. I'm a huge fan of anything cheesy, so when I order dinner, it's usually something with a lot of calories! Thanks for the tips!!!
