I just finished a 3 day water fast. It was tough but by the third day, I felt great. I followed Dr. Fuhrman's Fasting and Eating for Health book. He suggests periodic fasts to remove toxins. He suggests 14 days on doctor supervision which would also require taking a vacation from work. I can't really afford this so I went with the 3 day fast where you start Friday and start eating small meals by Sunday evening. I'm back at work today and still feel good. I broke the fast by eating a small bowl of watermelon (size of fist) every 2 hours until bedtime. I'm continuing this until lunch when I'll also have some lettuce and cucumber. I plan to have a small bowl of steamed kale and eggplant for dinner tonight.

I plan to slowly increase my servings and eventually eat every 3-4 hours. I want to stick to a no added salt or sugar, natural, and whole food diet for a couple of weeks and hope it becomes habit. I particularly love salty foods which I think has led to my unbearable headaches. So I'm hoping this process will work.

You have such control!!! I have fasted for 1 day & that is hard BUT for 3 days.. What a woman! Hope you are taking REAL good care of yourself! Sounds like the foods you will be eating will be helpful!

Thank you, prettyface. It was more of a mental battle than a physical one. I love to eat and not chewing for 3 days was tough but as I'm breaking the fast, I've been feeling better than I have in a long time. And the weight loss has continued as I've introduced vegetables and fruit without any added salt or sugar. So I guess the toughest part is getting past the third day and then moving on to small healthy meals.
