The Journey continues. I saw another alternative to intermitent fasting by accident on You Tube when I was searching for Dr Mosely's Documentary. It's called the 8 Hour diet. It seem's interesting so I purchased the book. I'm thinking of trying the concept especially on my updays to control overeating.
This is a review of my diet journey and what I thought of each plan.
Atkins: 7/2012-9/2012 (It was the main diet that I followed in the begining)
I really like this diet because it has alot of foods that I really like. Down side was that I couldn't enjoy my Safeway bagel's or my yummy Shoppers Fod Warehouse Muffins, my Greek Yogurt, or Sweet Potatoes etc. So when I went off of it I ate carbs as if I'd never ever see another one as long as I lived. Food preparation took a while since most all protiens need some form of cooking. So it could at times be a little time consuming. Eating socially if there were only high carb foods available was hard to deal with but managable. The upside is I did create alot of recipes that I really enjoyed. I also feel that it was the most healthy I ate in my entire life. What's not true is that all you eat is meat. You are encouraged to eat low carb vegetables and to eat them at every meal but keeping them within a certain amount of carbs per day. People that feel that all you eat are meat and cheese have not read the book. It's a good diet an I'd follow it again.
The Alternate Day Diet: (1/21/13)-(3/7/13)
This Diet is great and I did lose weight on it. The best thing about this diet is there wasn't any food category restrictions so I could eat pretty much what I wanted as long as I ate 500 calories every other day. It worked but the down side is when I couldn't control my social setting or was presented with certain foods on a down day it was really a challenge. I would do this diet again but only for a week or two at a time. I started the while I was in the Atkins Community and switched when I was pleased with my results on the ADDiet but another member got offended because the foods I was eating were not on Atkins P:lan so I switched to the 5:2 Diet Community since it is an intermitent dieting plan which was a better fit. I also tried the JUDDD Community which is an Alernate Day Diet Community but there was very little support or activity.
The 5:2 Diet: June 10, 2013 until present "Following some form of intermitant fasting"
I like this form of eating. I feel that I have lost weight at times but I feel most of al it helps me to keep my weight under control. I may gain on out of contol updays but on my fasting days it brings everything back under control. I actually looked forward to having a fast day which felt more like an internal cleansing. I love the 5:2 Community. I feel there is alot of support here.
The 8 Hour Diet: PENDING "I haven't started this one but am planing to experiment with it on my updays to control my urge to gorge at times. I'll see how it goes.
So to all of the 5:2 Community and Intermitent Fasters Hang in there and do what works for you. Remember the journey only ends when you do.
Thanks for all the encouragement.
I review all the public journals and comment on what inspires me or try to give encouragement as needed. I keep my FATSECRET public so everyone can benefit from it. Buddy or not I view the community as my support.
I love FATSECRET it has really helped open my eyes to why I have stuggled with my weight all my life put helps me to get a true picture of what I eat and what my daily activity is.
