My doctor called yesterday and told me my bone scan showed that I did in fact have a stress fracture in my right foot below my small toe. She put me on crutches last week but I needed them more the two weeks before that when she didn't suggest them. Now I am supposed to stay off my foot so it can heal which is basically impossible with this new puppy. I have to take her out to the bathroom and walk her at least once a day to tire her out regardless of my foot injury. I should have waited until it healed to get a puppy but I was too impatient to get one as always.
Zeta is doing great but I am worried because she isn't eating much of her puppy food. I think she might just be grieving leaving her family. I have been giving her a few treats (small 3-4) and use her puppy for for the rest of her training. I also have been giving her a small chew stick because she will eat that. We are going to be changing her dog food to another brand but I want to get her eating good first. I am a little worried that she might have a stomach full of rocks and sticks because her original owners let her roam freely in the yard and she eats everything outside she can get into her mouth - sticks, acorns, leaves. I need to call the vet this week about an appointment for her so I will ask about her eating. She is doing awesome with her crate training and her learning to sit on command. Now I am working on getting her to come on command. She is getting lots of exercise. She is getting much better about not barking thank goodness. I didn't want our neighbors to go crazy or complain to the landlord.
My food is better but I have been out of some of my veggies for a couple of days. Last night we got what we needed so I will be fine today. I haven't managed to do exercises in 5 days though.
I called my older daughter and told her we needed to come visit in December instead of T'giving because of the puppy. I don't think she was thrilled but she didn't seem upset so we will try to go the week before New Year's. My youngest daughter will be on vacation from college so she can take care of the puppy.

So sorry to hear about your foot. How long are you going to have to be off it? That really stinks. Glad to hear that pup is doing well. They are just so full of energy. Best of luck to you and take care of that foot. You need it.:)

How frustrating for you, especially as you were at the doc' from the beginning. Yes, impossible to keep the weight off with a new puppy in the house. Odd that she's not eating much, and I do hope the vet can help. How weird that she preferred acorns and leaves to real food. Good luck with the "come" on command: we made the mistake of not enforcing it when Ramble was a puppy. He's getting better but we cannot rely on him coming back: he has very selective hearing!

So glad you are enjoying your puppy - she sounds like a lot of fun. Hard work too I am sure, especially with your foot! You certainly have your challenges right now but I am sure you will overcome. Hope your foot heals quickly. Give Zara a scratch and tickle from me. Lucky dog to get such a good home.

Andrea, I am so sorry that you got that bad news about your foot today. All you can do is your best to stay off of it, and hope that it heals quickly! As for Zeta, what a sweetheart. She sounds like she is going to be a wonderful companion to you. Take care!

Hi Andrea...I'm sorry to hear about your foot fracture. You thought it was and unfortunately, turned out to be true. It will be hard to stay off it, but do the best you can or you could set back your recovery a LONG time. You don't want that to happen. Sounds like you are really enjoying your puppy - in spite of all the work involved. Take care, okay?

Oh no! I wonder how you did that to your foot. Zeta may just be dreaming of a Filet Mignon ;-). Not to worry, when she's hungry I'm sure she will eat. How many times have we heard that the puppy is not eating? :-) The chart is still looking great and, besides the minor fracture, you sound good overall Andrea. Keep up the good work!

I am sorry you are having to recover from this unfortunate injury but it is just another stone along the path and you will get to the end!
