Oww, vodka hurts.

Once upon a time I used to be able to drink the vodka cocktails my family makes with no problem. Ever since I embarked on this new lifestyle though, I cut back on alcohol dramatically. As a result, last night was painful. My uncle loves to cook and is a great cook but a trip to his house means fried food and booze. After six weeks of low fat, low grease, low alcohol, my body is kind of pissed at all the grease and booze. I went over my calories as I knew I would but it's okay once in a while. At least I got some good protein and omega 3s from all the seafood.

I could tell him to grill the fish and season it with fresh lemon and lime, but that's not going to happen. One day like this every few months won't really make a huge difference and I'm going to do my challenge workout when I get home tonight anyway. I still think I burned more than I ate but I really don't like going over 2000 calories since I probably won't be able to do that at goal weight. Still, it is what it is.

Heading to the beach with friends in a few. Hoping to get something approaching light exercise in.

That's it for now. Posting from my phone so trying to keep it short.

Affirmations for today:

1) one day does not break a lifestyle

2) every day is a new start and a fresh chance

Once you start changing your eating and drinking, not because you're on a diet, but because you know how crappy it will make you feel, you are no longer on a diet, you are into a new healthy lifestyle.

Bring a potluck dish that suits your way of eating and fill your plate with mostly that and a little of fried foods so you get a taste and still participate with the family meal. He'll be happy to see you eating healthy and still some of his food too! Bring a six pack of sparkling water and drink that. Always have one in your hand so if you are offered alcoholic beverage, and you don't want it, say "Thanks! I already have a drink". You are the one to needs to stay strong and if questioned, let them know that you have changed your way of eating and leave it at that. I am sure your family would be supportive and if not, well, that's their problem. Be true to yourself first. Others will respect you for it.

Lesson learned, my dear...but isn't it great to know that your body lets you know when you're putting the wrong stuff into it? I definitely pay for high-fat days.
