suechru's Journal, 16 August 2010

So the power's back on and that means I got to try EA Sports Active for the first time.

First off, WOW. There's really no comparison to the wii fit - this is definitely a workout. I set it for one of the 20 minute "easy" ones and I was puffing a lot and cursing out the virtual trainer during one part of the running. That said, the program is very encouraging and basically has someone telling you how good you're doing like constantly, which I like (compared to wii fit which enjoys telling me how fat I am every morning, lol.)

It's a really good workout and the pre-mades are a mix of cardio and strength with the resistance band so its clearly not feeling like all you do is lean side to side. I definitely want to do the 30 Day Challenge on it but I need to do it a few more times to work up to it.

I did get praised for finishing the entire workout and going over the goal burn rate. (Yes, I push myself hard folks.) We'll see how sore I am tomorrow. Weather's supposed to be crappy for the next few days so expect to see a lot of EA Active, Wii Fit Plus and DDR in my exercise diary because I don't fancy biking in rainstorms.

Wow that sounds great! I look forward to hearing more about it, I have considered getting a Wii. My kids & husband are flippin obssessed with the Xbox, at least with the Wii it'll force them to get off their asses more. To their credit, they DO come to the gym with me sometimes, but if I give them a choice, they ain't movin! Good thing I'm the Law in this house. ;P

Wow, sounds really cool. We have Wii Fit and I've looked at the EA Active but wasn't sure about it. I think I'll see if my wife want to pick it up this weekend. Thanks for letting us know how much you like it. @kstubblefield I love the line "Good thing I'm the Law in this house." Had me laughing this morning!

What I like best about these kind of things is that unlike an exercise DVD or whatever, it actually tells you if you're doing it wrong, or not fast enough or too fast or whatever. I feel like a lot of the times on my own with a DVD I don't actually get the results I'm supposed to get because I don't realize I should be distributing my weight different or whatever.

That's it! I'm telling my hubby we have to get one. He was pretty against the Wii because he's an xbox guy, but he had a chance to try the wii at a friends house, and I know he liked it. He "owes" me one anyway ;) so I think I cash that in, and get me a wii, LOL! Thanks suechru for telling us about it everyday. I had questions about it and from reading your journals they were all pretty much answered. It sounds great and I'm glad you like it so much. Thank you.

There's a lot of good options for the wii (in addition to the titles I have there's a lot of other workout/dance titles out there too). Wii fit is kind of a must to get just because it comes with the balance board (which so many other games/activities use) but after a while it's not as much of a challenge. DDR Hottest Party 3 also uses the balance board (in one mode at least) and that's a pretty good workout - especially if you do the fast songs.
