The perfect portion of fat/carbs/protein is different for everyone and every diet out there. Carbs are important as a form of stored energy that your body can quickly convert into energy. Protein helps build and repair muscles. Fat is stored energy, but takes more energy for our bodies to convert it into usable energy, however it is essential in our diet. Depending on your goals, you can change the proportion. If you are looking to increase muscle mass (lean body mass, not bulk), you should increase the amount of protein in your diet. The more lean body mass, the more calories you burn! You still want to have plenty of carbs to give you energy, so you don't want to completely cut out carbs. Fat is essential, so you also want to maintain a portion of your diet to contain fat. The recommended range fore each amount is: fat 20-25% carbs 40-50% protein 25-30% The calculator at the website below, you can plug in the percentages and figure out how many grams that equates to. http://www.freedieting.com/tools/nutrient_calculator.htm Hope that helps!
