tuchler814's Journal, 16 June 2008

And so begins my post-weekend body detox mission. The bloaty gross feeling persists, and is serving well as my reminder of why junk food is bad! Unfortunately, I wasn't feeling up to a run today, so I went to the gym instead. I really do miss the slim feeling I had before the weekend (around Thursday), and I've been reminding myself of that gross feeling today when I think I want more junk. Also, I just ordered a pair of jeans in a size that will look much better when I'm down towards my goal (or at least where I had been) so hopefully those come soon to help me out!

I leave for Cape Cod on July 3, which leaves me about 17 more days to get in bikini-ready shape! I definitely think I can do it.

Still on an eternal quest for low-cal, low-carb protein... it is proving difficult!

I definitely think you can do it too! I hope you don't mind that I took a look at your food journal to see what kinds of things you were already having for protein. Are you a pescitarian (sp?)? I see a lot of eggs and stuff but no meat. If you do eat meat then I would suggest some chicken. Half a chicken breast gives a whollop of 30g of protein. And there is always tuna which is about the same and very little fat. Both those things on a salad tossed with a bit of lemon are delicious. I had a mango chicken curry on spinach for my lunch :) if you don't eat meat, i would substitute some of the eggs you're cooking for egg whites. this is not too bad because you can buy just the whites in containers. i sometimes would have a whole egg white a bunch of egg whites mixed together in an omelette. you could throw some veggies in there. you could also look into extra firm tofu, and that you can buy already pressed. it has about 15 g protein for only 100 calories or so. i make tofu with this yummy thai peanut sauce (it's in my cookbook). in the mornings i throw some soft tofu into my smoothies. well, that's about all i can think of short of protein powders which honestly i think taste yucky and goodness knows what kind of artificial stuff is in them :S it's definitely hard to keep on track with relatives around no doubt trying to feed you as my relatives do :P but if your food is delicious they might even want to try some! i've had coworkers check out my very simple tuna mixed with lime, tomatoes and cilantro on salad greens and be like mmmmmm your lunch is so good. and then they have to eat out at a yucky lunch place that costs a lot more and is highly fattening! go figure!

I'm not a pescitarian... I do actually eat meat (though my food journal may not reflect that as of late!). Of course I don't mind you looking at my food journal, I look at other people's all the time! haha. Thanks so much for the advice! I've been trying to cook a lot for my family so that I can pick what we (and I) am eating, but it can be difficult sometimes... The soft tofu thing is a good idea though! I will have to try that.

i was also thinking of whipping up soft tofu with maybe some blueberries or chocolate to make a kinda mousse thing :) that's hard when you're cooking for your family too! but if its delicious they'll probably eat it even though it's healthy :P
