woox2's Journal, 11 February 2013

Well, I'm doing ok so far. I've had to think more about my food today than usual, but that's to keep me on track rather than shoving things in mindlessly.

Breakfast:
hollowed out bagel with artichoke spread
a few chunks of pineapple
about 8 Oz orange juice
water with psyllium fiber

Lunch: Met David out after his (fingers crossed) interview:
bowl French onion soup

Snack:
banana

now it's 5:30 and I'm going to steep away from work. This is where the hard part begins. That's probably why I'm journaling now so that I can keep track of what's happening in "real time".

I'm having cravings for sugar/bread/cheese. I know they are not hunger because I'm full of more food than I regularly eat. I also know that I have sauteed kale, roasted red potatoes and pork loin in the fridge ready for dinner so I'm prepared. The big question is... will I sabotage myself or not.

I'll probably check in later. I feel like i'm white-knuckling it right now. Funny, if I wasn't paying so much damn attention to being healthy, I'd probably not even be thinking about food!

Hang in there. It takes a determination that is hard to muster at times. You CAN do this, you just have to be ready to do so and commit wholeheartedly. Believe me, this 2 years hasn't been easy, and getting back on the wagon 100% was harder I think than starting initially. Especially since I have a short ride left, it gets harder to see the changes in number terms. Have sugarless gum on hand, if you can chew it, and when you feel a craving, either pop some gum in your mouth, or drink a lot of water. Good luck!!

Probably the smartest thing was having the dinner prepared. Let us know how it went,

Journaling is a GREAT way to get your mind away from food options when you're off from work. Not only does it make you forget the food, it also makes you FOCUS ON LOSING WEIGHT. Understanding the difference between hunger and carb cravings is essential for controlling when to eat and when to not eat. Well done. Now it's just a matter of remembering how AWESOME it will feel tonight, going to bed knowing that you did well, that you did what you're supposed to do - instead of feeling bummed out because you gave in to those stupid cravings. Oh, and speaking of cravings, I bumped a topic in the community forum, about thought field therapy. Check it out. It works. It might just me something you could use. :)
