Suzanne77598's Journal, 11 July 2010

Oh my gosh, I am having the most difficult time getting these last 7 lbs off! Ahhhhhh!! At the beginning of my diet, I was eating 1000 calories a day or less. Then I started reading that not only was I not getting all the fuel my body needs, that not eating enough would actually cause my weight loss to slow down. So, I upped my caloric intake to around 1300 calories. I have switched my focus from "dieting" to eating healthy. I really want this to be a lifelong change. I've also completed the C25K program and on June 5th I ran my first 5k. I've been running three days a week, and about two weeks ago I added strength training on my off days. I am very proud of myself, because I have been a couch potato my whole life. I've never been physically active, and the thought of working out - ha! Before C25K, the furthest I could run was to my mailbox. :)

So, my question is this: Am I not losing because I'm eating too many calories?

It's hard to diet diligently and not see immediate results. Be prepared for plateaus. But give yourself a pat on the back: your calorie counts are very disciplined, and you actually lost 1 pound in two days (July 7-9). You're doing great!! Don't feel like you need to achieve your goal in a week. You are bettering yourself everyday!!
