I finally came up with a GREAT idea for lunch! Well, at least once or twice a week anyway! Bison Burgers! I found a pack of them at Costco last week, in the frozen section. I decided to try them and they are GOOD! I pulled my George Foreman grill out today, threw on the burger to cook for about 4 minutes, then topped it with a dab of mango salsa, frech spinach, cheese, sliced onion, and pickles. No bun. Also had one egg that I turned into a deviled egg on the side. Had 4 tortilla chips, too. I must say, very satisfying and yummy. I think I did good. I wanted something crunchy to have with my burger so figured 4 tortilla chips would be safe.
Anyway, just had to share!

I've heard and seen those bison burgers. Are they really that much leaner than the extra lean ground beef (12% fat at costco) ?? ImLuuvd mentioned them too but when I read the nutritional information on the package I was not sure what the difference was on fat or calories? I also like the bocca burgers once in a while. I would probably eat a burger more often if I thought about it.

I love Bison Burgers also. I think that they have a sweeter taste than regular hamberger and they are leaner than ground beef.

I just got some too!! I love buffalo meat. If you have the chance to get some t-bones, go for it - there delicious! I looked this up on The Daily Plate and buffalo meat is packed with protein! Oh by the way, what will power you must have to have only 4 chips!!! I tried to visualize me doing that but I think it's going to take some work on my part! Keep up the great work!

I happen to have a package of some bison here, I do keep it on hand. The package I have says: 4oz has 190 calories 100 from fat. total fat 11g Total carbs 0 Protein 23 g It is also raised without antibiotics and no added hormones. I dont know how this compares to other burger out there, but I can tell you I notice a big difference when I cook it up, it does not shrink on the grill. LOL I made large burgers with it assuming they would shrink SOME...but they didn't. lol

I noticed that it didn't shrink on the grill, too! And, it was pretty darn good, I must say! I sprinkled a little Montreal Chicken seasoning over it before I put it on the grill, for flavor, and thought it was heavenly. I think this is my new favorite lunch item! It was the perfect portion, too, as I didn't feel overly full but satisfied and didn't get the "sleepies" after lunch, either.
