I learned something interesting yesterday.

A few weeks ago, I signed up for the Atkins website and yesterday, I received their "Welcome to Atkins" package that included, among other things, 3 Atkins Advantage bars.
I ate the chocolate peanut butter one for breakfast - and it totally knocked me out of ketosis. And this morning, I didn't show any kind of loss.
The funny thing about this is that I can eat sugar free reese's cups, stay in ketosis and still lose weight.

So, lesson learned. As convenient as the meal replacer bars and shakes may seem, I am not someone that can lose weight with them.
It's cool though, I've never really been a "meal replacer" kind of girl anyway. I'd much rather have a real breakfast (or lunch or dinner) than a fake one.
(Although, I was kind of excited about getting to have a pretty large candy bar type of thing for breakfast.)

But, this morning, I'm fighting sugar cravings and wheat cravings and that sucks.

Hey Toni sorry to hear that! I haven't tried them in awhile but they are good. I feel like I have been struggling around this same weight here for a week. hanging around 214 and yesterday I dipped into 213.8 but today I am back in 214. It is kind of a bummer. So today I am going to try to fast and see how that goes. I know my sodium was kind of up yesterday and I drank a lot of water but it is like my body is hanging on right here. I need to get some more sticks to check ketosis. It has been a long time since I bought some (was using some old ones). Can you tell me where you got yours and what brand they are?

Have you looked into the Atkins Fat Fast? I'll be doing it next week but everything that I've read says that it's amazing for getting you into ketosis if you aren't in it and for breaking a stall.

Thanks Toni! I will have to read the fat fast. I had a bullet proof coffee this morning with coconut oil and butter and that is it since last night. I hope to go until dinner tonight and break my fast then.

As delicious as some of the bars are, they don't help me one bit either. I'm glad you got your welcome package though. It's very handy to have the pocket counter available to carry shopping with you etc. Could you private message me the link to the ketone sticks too?

I remember when I first got my "welcome" package from Atkins. I ate all 3 bars, one right after the other lol. Needless to say, that was not a time that I ended up sticking with it.. lol. I haven't had any since then.

I received my welcome packet last week. I didn't eat it b/c I was doing the challenge. Now I'm glad I read your journal, Tony and I didn't eat them yet. Maybe after I hit goal.....

@ Angie - Once I realized that I was out of ketosis, I went ahead and ate the other two that evening. Still within my acceptable carbs and calories but yeah. Yesterday sucked with the cravings. @Mokakiss- Some people do just fine with them as an occasional treat or meal replacer. Other people don't. I'm still not back in Ketosis but I am losing again. So the lesson that I've learned for myself is that they just don't work for me.
