Day 2 of paleo lifestyle experiment!
A coworker gave me a book on Everyday Paleo, and introduced me into seriously thinking about the lifestyle. As an experiment, I decided to give it a try for a few days to see if I could do this better than I did when I went low carb cold turkey. I found that at the end of yesterday, I felt good stomach-wise (no nausea, dizziness, lethargy), but I had a killer headache. I usually don't get headaches, which is why this one was so terrible! I'm sure it was just a caffeine headache because I hadn't had sugar (besides complex sugars in fruit) all day.
Today is day 2, and I've lost 2 pounds (194.2). I'm sure the second I eat a delicious carb, this will go back up as usual. BUT a few months ago, I lasted two days with just plain low carb and wanted to die. So, if I can last today without feeling as miserable, I am thinking that this could be a sustainable lifestyle for me. Let's face it: counting calories and always measuring food is so exhausting. It's worked wonders for me so far in the last 10 months or so, but I'm terrified of getting to my goal weight, and then gaining it all back again because I just don't want to count calories anymore. I want to be able to get to a place where I naturally want to eat food that is good and healthful, and a place where I can listen to my body tell me that it's hungry versus full versus stuffed. I really want this for myself!
Well, after today, I will allow myself to eat my low calorie diet with limited carb intake to eat the rest of the groceries we had already bought. When that is all gone, I don't intend on buying more for myself.
I went on a hike for the first time in ages last weekend! See profile picture- all the aspen leaves are starting to yellow, and it's gorgeous. I live in a high altitude city, so I was nervous about driving up the mountain to another few thousand feet to hike- I was worried how I would do with a higher altitude and thinner air. Well, I did great! It was a small 1.8 mile hike, but I did just as well as anybody else. So normal. This makes me so happy!
Have a great HUMP day everybody! Hang in there!
