Yikes! It's been awhile on here.

Okay, okay. I've been bad. I've given into the fall and Halloween season, but it's my favorite holiday! And we've gotten a new wave of happy residents and vendors and other managers at different properties bringing in delicious food and Halloween candy for us office gals. How can you say no, when they're waiting for you to take a bite into what they've brought? I can't be rude ;)

Honestly, though. I need to think of a new thing to say to gently turn the treats down. A white lie? "This looks SO good! I just had a huge lunch, I can't wait to have this for dessert"? Any thoughts or ideas?

So, I've taken on a new task: Paleo November. I've really gotten into the lifestyle and have done weeks of research. I'm going a full 30 days paleo. However, during this time period, I'm going to focus on health and what my body is telling me. So, I'm not counting calories. BUT to stay on track, I'll keep a food journal.

BEGINNING TODAY.

Saturday, October 27th:
Breakfast: Smoothie, comprised of 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, unsweetened cocoa powder, 1 cup plain coffee.

Mid-morning snack: Plain coffee, handful of almonds.

Lunch: 2 eggs over-easy, one slice nitrate-free ham, homemade ketchup (no sugar/sodium added, basically organic tomatoes, garlic, apple cider vinegar, and a bunch of other spices).

Dinner: Steak, veggie medley, side salad with homeamde dressing (cold pressed olive oil, balsamic vinegar, spicy mustard, spices).

Dessert: Peppermint tea

That sounds fantastic - and you are doing well even if you took a little "break" for a while.

I've been thinking about the Paleo Plan but am a little concerned about the amount of fat in it and what it might do to my cholesterol what do you think? How many carbs does it allow? I've read a little but need to read more. Good luck let me know how it's going.

Thanks HCB- you're the one who put a low-carb lifestyle initially into my head :) And Addie- It's all about balance. Essentially, the only carbs you should get with this lifestyle are natural ones from fruit and vegetables. It's great not needing to count, count, count. Just eliminate breads/wheat/gluten, dairy, and legumes (beans). Naturally from there, your body will get the carbs, fats, natural sugars from fruit, and protein it needs. In terms of its effect on cholesterol, I think everybody's is different and you should talk to your doctor... I talked to mine and got the go ahead.... Just because I'm unsure :)
