Why French Women eat and don't get fat... I think I'll do the French diet because I went to a fancy French restaurant yesterday, and ate the Table d'Hôte and guess what? I lost weight! OK I know it's a coincidence, but anyway it's nice!

LOVE that concept!!! Saw someone on Ophra one time talking about this ... they eat great foods, but in small portions and enjoy every bite... they walk everywhere... they eat lite when they know they will eat rich foods... just sensibly! :)

I actually read the book :''French Women Don't Get Fat: The Secret of Eating For Pleasure''. It was to good to be true. But I agree cindylynnwho, you don't have to follow the whole thing. What I learned over the years of dieting is that not a single plan is fit for every person who follows it. I think your journey to get thin is inspiring because you don't have to find your own way, with trial and error. All the diet and plans are guidelines, ideas. You have to make them fit to your body. Well that's what I think anyway.

hey mayisa! :) I completely agree, no one plan is right for everyone. figuring that out has been key to my weight loss. When I kept trying to make one single plan fit to my body, I never lost weight and even gained.

There is definitely something to be said for eating things that you really WANT--in moderate portions. I think learning that trick is one of the biggest avenues to success. You are doing very well!

Well I grew up in Europe, and it is true that Europeans eat differently. I gained weight steadily after I moved here. I think there are way too many unhealthy ingredients in the American diet, not only fat but others as well. I was considered overweight in Europe when I moved here, but nowheres as I am now. I am looking forward to fit back into my high school graduation dress sometime next year. I did walk everywhere when I lived there and I am not only changing my eating but also my activity level, which is tough when you have a sedentary job. Moderation in all things is definitely the key. I am learning it slowly but surely.
