A little Sunday tip
One thing I've started doing is putting my food on the smallest plate possible. I grab a small plate or, sometimes, even a little saucer that normally goes under a tea cup. Usually when I use a bigger plate I am naturally inclined to put more food on it: Maybe an extra scoop of this, a bigger spoonful of that, etc.
Also, I have been conditioned by my parents through years and years of value-mindedness to always clean my plate. If you use a tiny plate you can put a lot less food on and still clean the whole thing.
Take Home Message: When you cook at home, use the smallest plate possible for your food. You'll naturally give yourself smaller helpings and still feel the psychological satisfaction of cleaning your plate.
