My first reaction to this picture was "that's an interesting candle, it doesn't have a wick"🤦♀️ lol I'm not a fan of smoothies but that sure does sound good.

@Pegster - not a chia fan? I've only recently tried it, and the jury's still out as to whether it will be a permanent addition to my diet

@horridzombie - I'm not big on smoothies, either, mostly because I hate cleaning the blender, but I had juice and past-their-prime bananas to use up. Loved the candle comment! 🤣

That smoothie looks and sounds great.😊

@Kalebeam -- I have a tendency to not get enough protein, so I've been trying to make a conscious effort on that front

Sounds very healthy. Chia is great for our bodies. I clean the blender with a little soap in water and run it in the machine momentarily, cleans it easily. I have become so fond of all you Fatsecret members.

Could you send the recipe? I’d like to try it…. Never tried a smoothie before!

Spudzboy - I used a cup of beet/carrot/orange juice, half a cup of liquid whey, one banana, a cup of frozen raspberries, about half a cup of soy Greek yogurt, a tablespoon of ground flax seeds, a tablespoon of chia seeds and threw it through the blender. Chia should always be soaked in the liquid before using. You really don't need to get so elaborate or use such specialized ingredients for a good smoothie. Pretty much any combo of fruit, juice or milk or kefir, maybe some spinach or beets (depending on color you're going for), some yogurt, maybe some raw oatmeal and/or flax works. If it's too thick to blend, you can thin it with a little water. Some people add ice cubes. One of my favorites is like a chocolate shake -- milk + 1/2 avocado + 1 banana + 2 tablespoons cocoa powder. Sometimes I'll throw blackstrap molasses in that one for a little potassium and iron boost. Depending on your calorie goals, you do have to watch it on smoothies. This one was 451 calories, but I tend to front load my calories in the morning, and I have up to about 1800 to play with. You could always save half or split it with someone. There are a lot of ideas for smoothies online. Be creative and have fun! 😃
