barbara leggitt's Journal, 09 June 2021

I have many new health issues. My medications are up to 17 now. I can only exercise in a seated position. I am not giving up. I am still trying. I live with my husband and sister and both are diabetic. So we are eating the low carb lifestyle most of the time. I do well with this. The problem is all the medications I am on. I will perservere.

Yes my doctors are all aware. I have 5 specialists and 1 primary care. I have a rare brain condition and stage 4 COPD along with a host of other medical issues. It is one day at a time.

As you get healthier, maybe you will be able to reduce your meds 😊

Barbara, cheers! Sorry about all the meds, but as you lose, you may be able to drop some of them. Low carb does drop the glucose fastest! I use two 3 pound weights and lift them as I sit, watching the news. That gives me about 25 minutes of arm exercises. I showed my Dr. my biceps last time I saw him -- he was impressed! And I was impressed last time I tripped and fell -- I was able to get back up without trouble. I'm 79 and won't ever get rid of the underarm flab, but I do have enough upper body strength to get right back up when I fall! God bless you, your husband, and sister. Diabetics don't have a life sentence if the persevere!

I’m glad you are taking this seriously. It seems that your choices are clear— continue on as you have in the past and succumb to the results or work hard at changing the things within your power to do so, and possibly be able to improve your situation. Maybe with the 3 of you in this together your can encourage each other when they need it to stay focused. This group has a lot of success stories and that really helps people to know this can be done. Keep your doctors in the loop, maybe see the nutritionist for a consult if you need to. We will be rooting for you. You, your husband and sister can do this.
