today is gym day and wow, my calf muscle is still messed up, I will have to take it easy on the machine that may overly strain it, but I have other machines that I can take advantage of.

Thank you all for your support yesterday on my first photo. I am a bit camera shy and never been comfortable with personal pictures.

Now that I am so close to my goal weight I have been experimenting with eating to my maintenance calories of 1370 (sedentary) and backing off on the cardio. I struggle to eat enough on many days when I do cardio. So far my body seems to be happy with the extra calories retained and no gains.

New focus is to heal my body and continue with my weight/resistance training. Granted I have been working on this all month, but I think the extra calories and increased level of work will help me get my old shape back.

I don't think my skin will ever snap back if I don't help it with more food. Being under calories for so long is a big strain on the body. Some days I get signals saying enough is enough and I am going to listen.

It is heck getting in the 60's and not having the benefit of that youthful metabolism to snap things back in place. Hopefully some of it will over time and patience will snap back. The most upsetting to me is my belly area, it has always been so tiny and the thought of never getting back to normal upsets the heck out of me. I love my belly shirts and I don't think I will ever change no matter how old I get. My mind still feels like a spring chicken!

It's certainly more about what you eat and when, than counting calories. Processed food is bad for weight gain.

yes so true Minitata I like a hearty breakfast and have a big steak in the morning with some high quality fat. I eat only what I want and save the rest for lunch if I have any left over. Generally that fuels my day and my exercise until 2 or 3pm. I get up around 4am, so by 5-6 I am starving and dig in. I eat litely most nights. Monday is the day we have steak for dinner, my husband loves his steak and broccoli and that is the one night I do eat heavier.

I nknew today was going to be a tough one at the gym. I managed to do more squats and more on the thigh machine but pushing in one I had to take a break mid way each 5 or 6. My legs were still not recovered from the first day. But I made a series of 4. The peddle machine which I still did not get the name of I only managed 5 minutes, I upped the level at strength and just did not have the energy to go more. Hard to breath. At least I went it took all morning of stretching before I thought I could manage it.

Be careful with that calf - when I had my frozen shoulder my doc (a guy) looked and me and smiled and said 'women, you guys get injured but you keep on going and going and going until the injury gets really bad' - that was what happened when I hurt my shoulder but kept using it and then it got so bad it completely froze up - so please be careful like I wasn't...hope the more eating and less cardio helps you - sounds like a good plan.

thanks Nikeit, I have been stretching since I got home. tweeked my back a little so after a hot shower I have been laying on the heat pack and inbetween stretching that calf muscle. I have a book set up in the living room and it reminds me everytime I walk by to step on it to stretch it. fat book!
