I started at 235 in February 2011....I realized I weighed more now than when I had my daughter ten years ago.
I'm doing this in small steps....I'm about 1 pound away from my first big goal of getting below 200 lbs.

My goals so far have been little things--"another" 5 pounds in the next couple weeks. "9 more" here, "another" 3.....

This way I actually see progress when I step on the scale and nothing is insurmountable.

I did the Slimfast diet for the first four monts and lost about 15 lbs before stalling out and not losing for almost a month. Then I went ot my docotr and she added Phentermine to my regimen. I can only take it for about 3 months; if I need more, I'll have to go an see and endocrinologist at an obesity center. I think I'll do that anyway--since there's a whole team there: The MD, a nutritionst, exercise physiologist and so on.

I also have partnered with a girl from my Bible study to work out every morning. We had been walking for the last couple of months, and have now begun jogging intervals. We're taking it slow, per the advice I got from the pro at a running gear store. But having a partner is GREAT motivation to get out of bed at 5:30 in the morning--you know someone's waiting, so you can't flake out.

In the evenings, I bike with my 11 year old daughter. She's recovering from a knee injury and is finally back to light exercise with it. Bet she'll be jogging with us soon again--or at least using her scooter--those three miles each am tire her out.

I am also being pretty meticulous about my calorie intake throughout the week. Breakfast is usually a small bowl of ceral at home or some peanut butter toast at work. Lunch is some kind of snack bar and dinner is varied, but I watch portions. I don't deny myself treats, but I only have a little bit. If we're eating out and LittleOne wants ice cream, I'll buy it and just have a couple bites of hers--I won't order one for me.

The other I do for myself is make weekends "free food" days. Meaning I can eat whatI'd like (within reason) and it works for me because I am much more physically active on the weekends. I walk, jog and bike more each day.

I really like the calorie counter and exercise app for my phone...It makes it sooo ewacy to track everything. I do need to get back on track with recording it all....I do try and make it a race to get it all in, and to make sure the calories in are less than the calories expended daily.
