OOOOOOF. I didn't do ANYTHING last week! So awful. I didn't write, I didn't track foods, I didn't weigh in, I didn't go to the gym. I did keep my portions on the down low and I did do a bunch of small at home workouts but man, did I fail.

---

No jotting today because this is going to be my splurge day for the week. I've felt weird all morning, so I've been constantly nibbling and later I'm watching the new Sherlock episode with a friend who hasn't seen it yet, and we're doing pizza and beer. I hate getting this day out of the way so early in the week, but it's not been a good calorie day.

---

I mentioned that I've been doing a bunch of small workouts. It's not been much, but I can already feel a difference in my arms! Granted, I've always gained muscle really easily in my arms (but this is faster than usual). They just feel more tone and they don't look quite as thick. Huzzah!

This was actually my first true weigh in. The one I put in a couple weeks ago was a pure guess because the batteries on my scale died (I did this at the gym, where the scale is probably more accurate anyway). I probably was actually 142 or 143 because I can see a slight difference and feel a difference in my jeans.

So, like I just mentioned: GYM! I finally made it this week. I was doing those little 7 minute exercises every night, but this was my first real workout. Stupid weather.

I worked HARD but I'm totally going to feel it tomorrow. Woops. Maybe tomorrow afternoon I'll go in and do a couple squats (arms and back today) and then walk on the treadmill while I read my new book. Something. I need to do something.

Yesterday was my splurge day, but I think I did reasonably well! Maybe 2,500 calories. I ate a pretty normal lunch and had the smallest calzone I've ever seen for dinner. I was sad at how small it was (this fit in my hand pretty well) but in the long run it was probably for the best. It filled me up enough that for the rest of the night I just had a 100 calorie bag of popcorn and green tea! Not much of a splurge day, huh?

Oh well. Like I mentioned a couple days ago, Vegas is a lot closer than I thought it was. I gotta work harder anyway.

Weigh-in: 140.0 lb lost so far: 0 lb still to go: 13.0 lb Diet followed reasonably well

I don't know why I thought there were twelve weeks until Vegas but there's totally not twelve weeks to Vegas. Great. Now I have to lose more than a pound a week.

We still didn't have the Ethopian food last night! We got to talking with people at the brewery too late to go, so we had a sandwich at the brewery. Diet wise, we probably should have gotten the Ethopian. Three beers and half a sandwich with half a bag of kettle chips is probably more than Ethopian food with water. Oh well.

I wanted to stress eat this morning SO BADLY. My poor kitty possibly has a medical problem, and it's one of those things where time will tell. I want answers NOW. I don't want her to be in pain or suffer. I'm giving myself a couple small things of chocolate (malted milk balls are pretty low on calories, by the way) to help me with my cravings to binge.

SUPER PROTEIN LUNCH! AGAIN!

Didn't get to go out on that date to the Ethopian place because shortly after I wrote yesterday's journal entry I got a message from my sure-to-book condo rental in Vegas and found out that they've recently changed their policy. You have to stay for four nights now and we can only stay for three. So, I literally spent five hours doing research and calling companies and making comparisons. The date was postponed, obviously. We're going tonight, and that's why I'm on the super protein lunch yet again. Half an avocado as the mayo in my egg salad, which has two eggs.

Because of that sudden change in Vegas plans, I wanted to stress eat last night. I did have a bunch of calories left and I just needed comfort food, so I indulged a bit and decided to eat something bad that didn't have a disastrous amount of calories: a small bowl of Mexican rice with melted cheese. However, five bites into it I just felt bogged down and sickened by how heavy and greasy it was. I just ate a large grapefruit instead! That's what I craved and it was oh-so-good.

Still sucking on that water-before-eating thing. It's just too damn frigid to be drinking anything cold. Stupid winter.

I didn't post anything yesterday! :O

It was a good excuse, I guess. I was feeling under the weather because I had four cavities filled. Headaches, jaw aches, bitten cheeks, swollen gums, the like. I probably could have gotten over the apathy I had due to the pain if I would just have taken some pain meds, but I like knowing how much pain I'm in so I can judge whether recovery is going well or not. I might still put in my food diary because I want to know how well I did yesterday, calorie wise.

Last night I started something I think I can maintain. I pick a small set of exercises, like five items, and do three reps of them when I take a break from something, like dishes or in between TV episodes. It takes a total of 2-3 minutes each set, and I get my heart rate up a little bit and even get close to a sweat. It's not going to make a huge difference, sure, but it's sure to make some sort of difference. I will do it every day because it's so simple I won't want to put it off, even on days where I already worked out. Seven minutes extra isn't going to do any harm (unless I'm injured, of course).

Yesterday was medicine ball. Tonight is dumbbells. Tomorrow will be kettleball.

I think the holiday weight is gone. My pants fit better and I just look less chubby. Whew! I know that when it's just a couple pounds racked up during the holidays it can slide off pretty easily, and since I'm a healthy eater anyway a lot of it is just excess fat and salt I don't generally consume. It tends to go away quickly, but it was ultra fast this year. I will credit it to the quick jump back to eating healthy, and not being tempted by the extended portions I usually want to eat this time of year. Maybe I can stay on the small portion thing, which is the reason I'm chubby to begin with.

High protein today so I don't munch...because I'm having Ethopian food for the first time tonight, and I don't know what they use to make their food. It looks like normally cooked beef and steamed veggies with lots of seasonings, but I don't know that for sure. Better safe than sorry!
